The Ave Maria Choir of the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour ( Singapore ) sings "My Soul Doth Magnify the Lord" by John Purifoy on the 4th Sunday of Advent 2013.

A relatively new Hymn for this choir, it speaks of the Archangel Gabriel 's words during the Annunciation to our Lady and her all time famous reply. When we sang this hymn, we told the men to imagine themselves as the Gabriel , the herald of God's fulfilment of His ancient promise to the prophets through the ages that He will send the Messiah to His People. And the ladies to put on the role of mother Mary as they sing Mary's old Testament quotes laced response now formally known as the Magnificat.

Author's Notes-

In times of darkness and light, we are called to remember that the Lord is present and showering us with his abundant love.

In times when we fail to do good or when others fail on us, we must remember that God gave us his unconditional love and so we too must do the same for others.

"Loving and Forgiving .... ... slow to anger, rich in kindness"

This psalm is an expression of God's gracious love for us all and a reminder for us to pass on this gracious love, to others in our lives, in His likeness.

Psalm 103 is often sung during wedding services in Singapore as it aptly reminds the wedding couple, who are beginning a new journey in their lives, to love and to forgive just as He has taught us.
